Mrs. Theresa Harper
A Little About Me:
First and foremost important in my life is my relationship with Jesus Christ. I love the Lord with all my heart and He has truly blessed my life both personally and professionally. I have been happily married to my wonderful hubby George for 19 years. I have three beautiful children; Dante 15, Jessica 9, and James 5, and they are my angels. We were a military family because Daddy was in the Navy, although it has been difficult at times the Lord helps us through. I am originally from Guam but I am really loving the Texas lifestyle especially the people. We have recently relocated to San Antonio and hope to stay put for a long while.
My Education and Experience:
I earned a B.A. in Sociology/Psychology from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles. I then began teaching Kindergarten at a small school in Guam for 3 years and fell in love with the education field. I went on to receive Master teacher permit in Early Childhood Education from the State of California. I taught pre-K and Kindergarten for almost 13 years. I have taught 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade for the past two years here at Salem Sayers Baptist Academy. I have been endorsed to teach Early childhood-12th Special Education and Early Childhood-4th General education on a Probationary Certificate in the State of Texas. I recently received a Master’s Degree in Early Elementary Reading and Literacy from Walden University.
My Philosophy about Children and Learning:
My philosophy about children and learning is that each and every one of them is a precious gift from the Creator and is designed and created in His image. Therefore each one of them is a magnificent individual with many differing gifts and characteristics. Each deserves love and nurturing, and through this they will become everything that the Lord has planned for them to be; spiritually, cognitively, emotionally, and socially.
